KWTales heads to the San Juans for another field season
Today, I spent most of the day heading north to the San Juan Islands. Luckily I hopped aboard the NOAA research boat Phocena II, instead of slogging through on the WA State ferries. The Phocena II is a 27′ inflatable zodiac and it gave me a comfortable ride for the two and a half hour journey between Seattle and Friday Harbor.
It was a pretty uneventful trip, although I did see a number of harbor porpoise on the way.

Tomorrow will be a busy day getting the boat and gear ready, not to mention ourselves.
I will update this page daily, so check back if you are interested!
